Geylang condo NEWS: Geylang Serai lights the light for Hari Raya when the market returns after a 2 year hiatus.
SINGAPORE - Before the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, the streets of Geylang Serai, have a festive flash of light on Friday evening (March 25).

Finance Minister Lawrence Wong, who spoke at the lighting launch on Friday, recognized how despite the Covid-19 pandemic, communities have kept their communication systems intact.

Addressing the Malay/Muslim community, Mr Wong said: "You had to celebrate Hari Rayas in a more silent way, with a smaller group size.
"This adjustment has not been easy. But throughout this challenging time, one adjustment has not changed. Despite the trials and tribulations, our gotong royong spirit is continuing to grow."

The lights will be on daily from up to 7pm until midnight, with the period running until 2nd May - The night before the Hari Raya Puasa festival - until 6am. On Friday and Saturday, the light will last until 2am.
