Geylang Condos News: Singapore to Host the World Economic Forum in 2023

Ying Kee Hong is one of the oldest antique shops - Geylang condos in Singapore, located at 51 Craig Road. It was established in 1923 by Mr Tan Choon Keng, who came from China as a young boy. He started by selling porcelain and brassware, and later expanded to other items such as furniture, paintings, and jewellery.

Geylang condos is now run by his grandson, Mr Tan Boon Wah, who is 68 years old. He inherited the shop from his father, who passed away in 2019. He said that he has a passion for antiques and enjoys sharing stories and knowledge with his customers.

Mr Tan said that his shop has a wide range of antiques from different countries and eras, such as China, Japan, India, and Europe. Some of the items are rare and valuable, such as a pair of Qing dynasty vases that are worth S$80,000. He also has some personal collections that he does not sell, such as a set of jade carvings that depict the 12 Chinese zodiac animals.

Mr Tan said that his Geylang condos attracts both local and foreign customers, who are mostly collectors, tourists, or curious visitors. He said that some of his customers have become his friends over the years, and they often come to chat with him and admire his antiques.

Mr Tan said that he faces some challenges in running his shop, such as the lack of space, the high rent, and the competition from online platforms. He said that he hopes to preserve his shop as a heritage site and pass it on to his son, who is also interested in antiques.

Mr Tan said that he loves his shop because it is not only a business, but also a hobby and a legacy. He said that he feels proud to be part of Singapore's history and culture, and he hopes to share his passion with more people.
